Just another PSA

Happy Spay and Neuter Month.

That's right, February is a good time to help curtail puppy and kitten season before it starts. If you have pets who are still intact, get them spayed or neutered now. Encourage people you know with pets to make sure that they are fixed.

The number of cats alone who are killed in shelters every year is staggering: way up in the millions. That doesn't even begin to count the ones who never make it to a shelter. This world will be better when every puppy and every kitten born has a good, loving home waiting for it. We can make that happen if we work together.

If you don't personally know any cats or dogs that need to be fixed, consider making a donation to your local rescue group to pay for one or more spay/neuter. I'm sure there's somebody who could use your help.

Yes, as a matter of fact I am associated with a rescue group, the Maine Coon Rescue, which is nationwide and does some placement in Canada.

There are many, many teeny tiny little groups out there that could use your help.

A good resource for you, if you're looking to get a pet fixed, is Spay USA and for help with feral or stray cats in your neighborhood, consult with Alley Cat Allies. The strays and ferals are the ones who most despatately need fixing.

It's something you can do, so do it.
