On the left-hand side

Insert Homerish noise here.

I have a cold. It seems to be a head cold, but I can't really tell. My major symptom is a sore throat, but only on the left side. Most of my congestion is on the left side, too. My ears are also stopped up... on the left side.

I just sent Mom out to CVS to get Fisherman's Friend and Alka-Seltzer Cold Plus. The Fisherman's Friend box insists that I should already have consulted a doctor, and honestly I thought about calling Dr. Mustaq's office to see what might be going on. He's my ENT, and although I think it would be silly to go see a specialist to treat a cold, if I actually have a virus I guess there could be problems when it fails to clear up in a few days.

You see, this is my first illness since my transplants. I mean my first unrelated illness. I'm sick like everybody else gets sick, only I'm not like everybody else. That sucks, too. I'm so stubborn that I'm going to try to wait this out with cough drops, plenty of sleep and lots of liquid.

On the plus side I have warm cats and lots of blankets. Both cats were with me for a short time, and they behaved themselves. No hissing, no swiping, only a little bit of glaring on both sides. I tell you, I will never understand those two if I live to be a million years old.

Now if there were something on teevee, I'd be set.
